Just another PMI Standard... But lots good concepts inside!

I find this book (just like the rest of PMI's standards) a very important reference for those wishing to acquire the "text book" knowledge, and very important for certification purposes.
But if you are looking for practical knowledge, and details on how to implement OPM3 on your organization, or on clients, then I recomend other books like "Every Organization can implement OPM3".

Very few content and the 151 questions to the self-assessment doesn't help too much. Well, if you want some documentation about OPM3 this is a "must have" but don't expect too much.

Out of date. Too much has happened and the model does not perform in this condition considering ISP, ITIL and COBIT 5. The Maturity assessment is not current. This is good to learn basics.

About the Author
Dr. Lawrence N. Virgin completed his doctorate in structural mechanics in 1986 at University College London. Since 1988, he has been at Duke University, where he teaches and conducts research in engineering mechanics. His interests are centered on the instability behavior of nonlinear dynamics systems in the context of experimental vibrations, with applications including aeroelasticity, systems with discontinuities (impact and friction), fluid-structure interaction, and buckling. He is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and also holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. He is the author of Introduction to Experimental Nonlinear Dynamics, published by Cambridge University Press.

Informative for novice and experienced fans

Another DK must-have book for my Star Wars bookshelf. Note that this is not an entirely new work; it is mostly based on the 2011 edition. There are about 20 more pages in this new edition, but some characters from the 2011 edition do not appear in the new edition. And as you might guess from the cover, any new additions are from The Force Awakens. And as those characters' stories are still being told, their one-page bio here cannot be considered "definitive." But there is still plenty to recommend here, as the book is informative for fans of all interest levels and the layout and photos are up to DK's usual high standards.

An Amazing Technique

I have been doing yogic practices for a while now and I don't think I have ever experienced anything so powerful. In only three practices I am feeling the cleansing.

I have always seen this technique done but never took to it because of the way it was done, as a workout, and did not understand what its purpose was. Until I read this book. The explanation of this set of asanas and its cause, effects and benefits is wonderful. I like to practice yoga making it more of a workout of connection and breath/body awareness, that is why I use Wai Lana's videos as my instructor. Here Swami Satyananda Saraswati, takes us on a journey of peace and love, for your body and mind. Doing this practice with others videos made me feel helpless as they were moving at a speedy pace. Satyananda slows you down with his calming and highly educational tone. He guides you lovingly through this practice, the asanas, the meditations, the breathing, etc., so that you may achieve the full benefits of this series. If you own any of the other Bihar School of Yoga books that hosts this practice such as Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Bandha - I suggest owning a copy of this as it is an indepth text on this program. It is wonderful... Enjoy.

Concise yet complete

If you can spare only 15 minutes a day for exercise, then you should do Surya Namaskara. And this book is all you will ever need on this topic.

This book first describes the Surya Namaskara sequence of exercises in detail. It then mentions solutions for common problems encountered by students.

Then, the physical (health and flexibility) and spiritual (chakras and prana) advantages of doing Surya Namaskara are mentioned clearly.

A solid introductory text into Sun Salutation

Like most other Bihar books this one has solid information on the Sun Salutation. You get an orientation to the sun, the postures, associated mantras, breath coordination, the entire thing. The text is easy enough for a newbie to read and complete enough for the moderate level yogini. Still, you may find it difficult to keep up practice on your own without a yoga teacher so I'd recommend this to someone who has already done some yoga before. Very solid book and enjoyable to read in it's clarity.

I pondered the meaning of those words for months on end and at some point it dawned upon me what I now believe those words mean. Now, I want to share my thoughts with you. There seems to be no time for 'Now,' when 'Now' is all there is and all we have. We are too preoccupied with being modern and Modernity and it is why we are constantly distracted. The insatiable Beast, that is Modernity, wields its powerful influences upon us making it seem we have surrendered our ability to choose for ourselves. We need to realize that the past, the present, and the future form a straight Time line through life and on that line, there are three points that reflects our whole existence. The last point being Death,or as I describe it in this book; we simply run out of Life. Life would seem short of you think in terms of numbers as opposed to thinking in terms of actually "Being" and "Doing" in the Present Positive Tense. We need to reflect on our own humanity and the relationships we have with those we love. As obvious as it may seem, we only have 'Now,' this moment, this instant to be able to do something about almost anything. Life is an incremental, yet instantaneous experience. However, this is not to suggest that we rush through life. Instead, it is to realize that we cannot travel faster than the speed of 'Now'. We simply need to slow down. We need to return to the basics of Life and rethink our reasons for doing the things we do, not merely on a daily basis, but during the continuous 'Now' as we live. Why not reclaim our individual ability to choose on our own volition. We need to be proactive with respect to our pursuits in life, especially being there for someone else. So, it is very important to love those you love, Now.. Love much, love often. The idea of tomorrow, and it is just an idea, is only the promise of an imaginary time to come.. 'Now' is as real as it gets. In the scheme of things, God has a place for us. Have a place for God in your life. It is vitally important to really try to slow down, if only for a couple of seconds at a time. It will change your life for the better and like me, and in your own way, only you can experience what I am talking about and only you can describe it. Remember that there is nothing more powerful than the present moment. When I think about all there is to say or do 'Now,' I'm overwhelmed. Life does lasts but an instant.It is the most powerful and intriguing paradox. We live our entire lives in the span of an instant,yet, a lifetime is not enough time to tell it all or do it all. It's life. It's lifetime. It is Now O' Clock.

About the Author

Dr. James Quintiere received his PhD from New York University in 1970, and is currently Professor Emeritus, Department of Fire Protection, at the University of Maryland in College Park. He has over thirty years of experience in fire research and teaching, and has written the popular textbook PRINCIPLES OF FIRE BEHAVIOR, and co-authored ENCLOSURE FIRE DYNAMICS with Bjorn Karlsson. He has investigated numerous fire disasters, including the Branch Davidian Compound fire in Waco, Texas, and the 1986 New Year’s Eve DuPont Plaza fire in Puerto Rico. His testimony during the civil trial on the Waco tragedy was pivotal to the jury’s conclusion that the fires were not the result of federal authorities’ actions. Dr. Quintiere is the author of more than 75 journal publications and reports, and is the past chair, International Association for Fire Safety Science. He is also the recipient of the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal (1976) and Silver Medal (1982).
