Jill Gregory is a new author for me. I am enjoying her books and look forward to reading more of her work. Just a word to clarify something said by another reviewer about the historical accuracy of the novel. In 1806, during the First French Empire, nearly 1/5 of the active nobility of Napoleon's First Empire were of the old nobility. The rest of the titles he made up and many of those titles still exist today. The Regency Era in England was a boisterous time of war, technological advancement and changes in social mores. Bastard children of the nobility in
England were, from time to time, recognized and supported specifically by their noble parent and occasionally legitimized to inherent titles, although that was probably not entirely legal. If they were royal descendants they were often given nominal titles. It was Queen Victoria who banished bastards and absolved fathers from the responsibility of caring for illegitimate offspring....It was the law that bastards were to be supported by their fathers until maybe 1834 or 1835. This perhaps didn't apply to the peerage as the peerage seemed to be exempt from most laws unless the issue was forced in the House of Lords. The Nobility of France and the Nobility of England, while often related through marriage, had a different social structure both in the old system and the system that was created by Napoleon. Being the bastard daughter of a Duke may have been better than being the daughter of a farmer on the British social scale, or maybe not. This is a work of fiction. Even the best works of fiction use situational premise in ways that are....fiction...If you want historical fact beyond the parameters of a story take a history class.

this was excellent!

I don't know when this book was written. It seems like I might have read it before...but oh I would read it again in a heart beat. Great characters. All of them. The madness of the villian was well supported and very convincing. The obtuseness of the hero was irritating but it drove the story line. The leading female character had more wisdom than an 18 year old should rightly have, but it so well written I believed every bit of it. Great story, full of twists and unexpected turns.
Good thing I had my tissues handy, though, because there were parts that made me cry. But most of it I just enjoyed. Very much.

Oh my goodness! I have read works by this author for years and she never fails. Took Forever After with me on vacation in the Bahamas. (Toes curled in the sand kind of read.) This story is heartwarming and wonderful. When I stay up all night and lose sleep, you know the storyteller has a gift. The story centers on an orphan girl with horrible circumstances and is thrust into an Earl's world totally alien from her own. The magic begins when she helps heal his family. Murder, treachery, suspense, action and adventure abound. Don't leave home without it!

user controls???

I was hoping to see more about arcade control setup instead of just setup guides for different software. It was informative but just left me in the same boat before I had purchased the book.

Beginner's Guide

As a complete beginner to Raspberry Pi, this book was excellent. The easy to follow, step-by-step recipes provided setup guides for different software (MAME, SNES, Atari 2600, PlayStation emulators). After installing the emulators, there were simple maintenance instructions for keeping everything up-to-date and I was playing in no time.

Additionally, the Raspberry Pi App Store had additional games to choose from to extend my gaming experience.

If you’re comfortable with basic command line functions and can format your own SD card, you’ll be good to go with the recipes in this book.

Too simplistic. Some of the explanations were: go to the store and download it. Well, what happens if it is taken off the store? It offers no help on what to do in that situation. I stopped reading after that point.

ENJOYABLE COZY SERIES

Very enjoyable Cozy mystery series by Kate Collins. The individual books in this series are very well written and transform the reader into the heart of each book where the main character lives and runs her own flowers shop. She also delves into individual mysteries as a self-appointed private eye. In the later books she and her boyfriend, and later husband run a successful detective agency. Each book is a story within itself, but series should be read in order for the progression of the characters presented to be clear to the reader.

The story was OK but there wasn't any true excitement. I probably won't read the sequels.
I just wanted it to end so I could start a new book.

great read

This is a page turner from the moment you open the book. A good suspense with a little romance between lindsey and zack. She kept my interest that I had to force myself to put the book down so I could get some work done. This is the first Mary Burton book I've read and I plan to go check out and see what other books she has out. I put this author with my other favorites like Lisa Gardner, Mary Clark Higgins, Laura Griffin, Tami Hoag, Sandra Brown, just to name a few. Highly recommend this book.
